It was not sufficient for Paul to stop there, to say only, “now to him who is able….” but instead he builds on it to stress his point! God is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think!” Ephesians 3:20
We must remember that as one scholar put it, “God is able to do more through 1 prayer than we could do in 100 yrs of planning and prodding!”
The church is Jesus’ Church. He died for the church. God’s power was displayed when he raised Jesus from the dead and put him as head of the church. The vision to reach the lost, to win a city to the Lord is God’s vision (Ephesians 2:4). Why would he do this? So that he may be glorified forever and ever throughout all generations (Eph 3:21).
It’s interesting to me to look at Acts 8:1-8 and to see how the church reacted when they were forced to, not only quit gathering, but to move out of their cities. Acts 8:4 says that those who were scattered went about preaching the word. We see the fruit of that in verse 7 and 8, hearts were cleansed, bodies were healed, and joy filled the city!
Will you commit to going to God with me in your prayers? Will you believe with me that God is able to do far more than we ask or think? Will you commit to being an Ephesians 4:1-16 kind of church in that we bear with one another, encourage one another, and we equip the saints for ministry together so as to build up the body of Christ? Preach the word, always be ready to give an answer to the hope that is within you.
Will you pray for wisdom for me and our leadership as we make decisions regarding our Gatherings, Easter, Morning Service, Youth Gatherings, Outreach Events in the coming days and weeks?
I am confident that as we seek him, he will guide us!
